Message from our Ambassador
Scott Beard has an important message to share:
It is time for adults to recognise the silent signal used by children under 16 to show they are being sexually abused and are not safe.
For the safety of our children and the future of our country, we must share and teach this Global Hand Sign.
The Global Hand Sign for U16s is now being shared across ACC sites throughout New Zealand, helping raise awareness and supporting conversations around child safety and abuse.
The Global Hand Sign for U16s is now included within the NZ Police internal app for police personnel. The Keeping Ourselves Safe programme, taught in schools across New Zealand, now includes the hand sign as part of its child safety education.
The book, Keeping Kids Safe, includes the Global Hand Sign for U16s and is now in every Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children office. This includes 56 sites across New Zealand, ensuring frontline staff are supported with consistent, practical guidance.

for U16s resources
We offer a range of free posters designed to support awareness and education around child sexual abuse, for educators, caregivers, coaches, community leaders, and anyone who cares.
Use them in workplaces, community spaces, or even at home to spark conversations, share knowledge, and help break the silence.
Your support helps us turn silence into action
